Self-directed Approaches Workshop - How? Part 2

This workshop will explore the skills and knowledge required to actualise self-directed approaches (SDA) and a human rights based framework. It follows on from the workshop entitled Self directed approaches – What and Why? Part 1.

  • When: 9am - 5pm, 29 March, 2012

Who should attend

Target: Disability support workers, supervisors and managers who want to explore the knowledge, skills and values underpinning SDA in greater depth.

It is expected participants will have completed the Part 1 workshop or already have a basic understanding of SDA.

Workshop Content

This workshop will consider the importance of valued social roles, freely given relationships, ethical paid relationships, working one by one and using a strengths based approach.
It will also explore a hierarchy of options for helping people realise their aspirations, thinking outside the square and the changing role of workers, planning tools and communication tools.
