Values and Attitudes in Action Workshop

This one day workshop is designed for disability support workers to work together with the trainer to establish and explore a shared understanding of the values that underpin working in the disability sector and the attitudes required to perform their job.

These understandings will look at the difference between personal and workplace values, shared community values, laws and the expression of these in our work behaviour.

Workshop details

  • When: 9am - 5pm, 31 May 2012
  • Where: CAE Room B427, 253 Flinders Lane, Melbourne

Who should attend

The workshop is specifically designed for disability direct support workers. It will also be valuable for the supervisors and managers of
those workers. Learning activities in the session assume participants are working directly with people with a disability.

Workshop Content

At the completion of the workshop, participants will:

  • be able to list and describe the values of the community services area and particularly the disability sector
  • be able to give examples of behaviours that reflect these values
  • recognise behaviours that don’t support the values and suggest modifications to bring about change
  • be able to describe the attitude required of disability support workers
  • be able to demonstrate why sector values and positive attitudes are essential

A Certificate of Attendance is provided at the completion of the session to participants. This session compliments the nationally accredited
units of competency, but it is not an accredited ‘unit’.
