Planning your career
It is possible to get assistance with career planning from TAFE and Tertiary institutions as well as from job networks. It is also possible to undertake research yourself, using information from the internet.
Questions to ask:
- What area of disability work am I most interested in?
- What skills, knowledge and experience do I have that would help me gain employment in this area? (It is important to remember that personal experience is well regarded e.g. a family member with a disability)
- Am I prepared/able to volunteer in order to get experience?
- Do I have a relevant current qualification?
- Do I have a qualification that will allow me to access a graduate qualification in disability?
- Am I eligible for a traineeship?
