Certificate IV in Ageing Support

Aged care is one of Australia’s fastest-growing industry sectors due to a rapidly ageing population. Field's Certificate IV in Ageing Support prepares you to care for Australian seniors effectively and provides you with the skills to plan, develop, implement and monitor programs and services for older people in residential facilities or through organisations that deliver services to the community and client homes. With this nationally accredited qualification, you can prepare for a variety of roles in the aged care sector.

Course delivery and duration

Classroom training: 
Each unit is delivered over 2 consecutive days per week OR 4 evenings per fortnight.

Qualification units:
To be awarded your qualification, you will need to successfully complete 18 units; 15 core and 3 electives.

Practical placement: 
On completion of classroom training, 120 hours of practical placement is required to be undertaken - Field assist in sourcing and coordinating this with you.

Total course duration: 
Scheduled at 23 weeks

Industry compliance training: 
Field students are given the opportunity to participate in a number of accredited and non-accredited short courses free of charge, to assist with practical placement and ongoing employment opportunities. 

Locations:
Field deliver this qualification in many training venues across Melbourne and Geelong.

This training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth government funding. Course fees are based on a number of factors and depend on an individual’s eligibility for government funding. Individuals from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

On completion of this qualification employment opportunities may include:

  • Support worker
  • Care Service Team Leader
  • Care Supervisor
  • Volunteer Coordinator.

Student requirements

A Police Check and a Working with Children Check (WWCC) is required to complete your practical placement. You are not able to start placement without a police check that is clear and current (within 1 year of issue).
