Aged care is one of Australia’s fastest-growing industry sectors due to a rapidly ageing population. The Certificate IV in Ageing Support secures your long-term employment and prepares you to care for Australian seniors effectively in residential facilities and their homes, making real change in their lives.

Field’s qualification provides you with the skills to plan, develop, implement and monitor programs and services for older people in aged care facilities or through organisations that deliver services to the community and client homes. With this nationally accredited qualification, you can provide support and personal care to older people and prepare for a supervisory or team leader role in the aged care industry.



There are no prerequisites to gain entry into CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support.


For entry into this course you will require adequate language, literacy and numeracy skills in English that allow you to read and interpret information, understand training, demonstrate leadership skills as well as provide and follow clear instructions, and prepare written assignments and documents for assessment.

As well as being able to work effectively with other healthcare professionals, by completing this course, you’ll build a foundation for supervising other workers, advocating for the elderly within a caring legal and ethical framework. You’ll also acquire a nationally recognised qualification which employers know and trust.

Course structure

The course comprises 18 units, including 15 core and 3 electives. A Certificate IV in Ageing Support takes 20 weeks to complete. Classes are delivered as 6 hour sessions, 2 days a week. Importantly, there are 120 hours of work placement.
