Certificate IV in Ageing Support

Get qualified in an industry where skilled employees are in short supply

Aged care is Australia’s fastest-growing industry sector due to a rapidly ageing population. The Certificate IV in Ageing Support prepares you to care for Australian seniors in either residential facilities or through organisations that deliver services to the community and client homes. With this nationally accredited qualification, you can prepare for a variety of roles in the aged care sector. Workers may be required to demonstrate leadership and have limited responsibility in outputs and quality for others within limits in such roles. Your role will include the ability to plan, develop, implement and monitor programs and services for older people.

Course information

Qualification units:
To be awarded your qualification, you will need to successfully complete 18 units; 15 core and 3 electives.

Practical placement: 
120 hours of practical placement is required to be undertaken - Field assist in sourcing and coordinating this with you.

Industry compliance training: 
Students are given the opportunity to participate in a number of complimentary accredited and non-accredited short courses, which are beneficial for practical placement and for ongoing employment opportunities. 

The qualification is delivered in multiple training venues across Melbourne and Geelong.

This training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth government funding. Course fees are based on a number of factors and depend on an individual’s eligibility for government funding. Individuals from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Student requirements

A Police Check and a Working with Children Check (WWCC) is required to complete your practical placement. You are not able to start placement without a police check that is clear and current (within 1 year of issue).
